Tangafjørður is a remarkable fjord, divided into distinct northern and southern sections by the side fjords Skálafjørður and Kaldbaksfjørður.
Spanning a total of 13.9 kilometers, its southern half is wider at 4.6 kilometers, while the northern half narrows to 3.7 kilometers. The deepest points in each section measure −85 meters, located offshore of Kolbeinagjógv and Hvítanes.
As Tangafjørður merges into Nólsoyarfjørður, the seafloor plunges dramatically to a depth of −120 meters. At the intersection of Kaldbaks-, Skála-, and Tangafjørður, you'll find reefs and skerries known as Flesjarnar skerries, which break the water’s surface and are marked by a lighthouse.
Its unique features and scenic views make Tangafjørður a fascinating destination to explore and admire.
